Despite what we’d like to believe, iOS 7 will likely not be available to the public immediately after WWDC 2013. Traditionally, major iOS updates release alongside hardware updates like the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5. These hardware updates have lately been happening in the Fall, which is when we expect iOS 7 and the iPhone 5S to be available.
Developers will likely receive access to iOS 7 following WWDC, but those without a developer account will have to wait a little while. Thankfully, Apple has been nice enough in the future to let us upgrade to the latest version of iOS days before their new hardware releases. This allows us to get things set up and backed up on our existing hardware, making the transition to the iPhone 5S faster and smoother.
We’ll know the official word on when you can get your hands on iOS 7 later today, during Apple’s WWDC 2013 keynote. Tune in to our liveblog to get the latest updates!
